Are You Positive About That?

Have you ever noticed that some of the people who bother us the most are those who never seem to be in a bad mood?  Those perky little chipper birdies who always seem to be walking on cloud 9 as to never dirty their feet with the troubles of the world?  The one who's always pushing their philosophies of the beauty of the flower and how that applies to the world of the stock market or corporate restructuring.

Haven't you noticed that they always seem to appear when you are at the moment when you feel you don't want them around the most?

I'm not saying we have to be the hippie guru of the world but I think that in a peculiar way they may be on to something.  I've noticed that those of my friends who are successful in life and business are generally happy.  Even if they aren't happy they are still positive.  I was mentored by someone years ago when I was living in Florianopolis Brazil who taught me a very interesting concept.  I don't know who or if this a quote he gather from someone else but Guilerme Peixoto was the one who taught it to me so I'm giving him the credit.  (Please feel free to let me know the source in the comments if you happen to know who it was)

There are no such thing as problems, only challenges.
Mentally when we are faced with a problem there is a subconscious feeling of a pending impossibility.  This idea can be difficult, demotivating, and extremely counter productive.  Many people who have problems in their lives tend to think and act negatively and therefore only accelerate the feelings of depression and anxiety.

However, being faced with a challenge is almost an invitation to prove that you can succeed in the task presented.  It has a completely different feeling and resonates in a positive way with it's receiver.  Many people when faced with a challenge dig their heels in the ground and get ready for a battle.

When you are in a positive frame of mind and are able to simply change the way you see the little challenges of life you will find that you are able to conquer the most difficult tasks, not to mention you become begin to change yourself in a way that people will see you as a source of inspiration.  You will be the role model that may help someone become successful in their own personal endeavors.  There is a difference from being the hippie positivity guru and the positive mentor who is able to rise to any challenge.

Take a moment and look at those who you know in your life.  Can you see the positivity pattern that seems to follow those who are successful? Please feel free to let me know who your hippie guru or positive mentor is and how they've caused you to become the person you are today in the comments section below.

Timing Is Everything

Have you ever sat back and looked into the archive of your mind and remembered that you "almost" bought Apple stock 5 years ago, or that you "almost" invested in "that company" whose stock is now infinitely more successful than it was 5 years ago?  I know hundreds of people who have similar stories.  Inaction is the number one cause of missed opportunity, so this week I want to focus on the habit of being early.

Think about the billionaire Bill Gates.  What did he invent?  What was his major contribution to society?  How did he become the wealthiest person advertised in the media today?  When he was asked the same question his response was,

"First, I was in the right place at the right time. Second, I saw the vision. Third, and most important, I took action."
Bill Gates didn't invent the computer.  He didn't invent the software.  He simply took action early enough in the game with the clear vision of what the projects potential could be.  Being early (or in the right place at the right time) is absolutely crucial in the success of many wealth people.

Being early is a habit that once mastered will begin paying off in many ways.  It's not restricted to the idea of being the first to move on a business concept.  It's not exclusive to purchasing that stock before it explodes.  It is a universal truth.  I would even go as far as calling it a (are you ready for this) a crucial Habit 2 Success.

This is true for for anything including business meetings.  If you are always the first one at the business table when the big boss calls a meeting who are they going to recognize as the proactive leader?  If you are always early to Black Friday, who is going to get the best deals?  If you are always first to the supermarket who's going to get the best produce and meat products?

Am I making the point clear?  Being early is a habit that leads to a whole new world of self confidence, self motivation, and success.

"Being at the right place at the right time can only happen when you keep moving toward the next opportunity." - Arthur Pine
Important Distinction

Now, that we've established this platform somewhat, I want to make a certain distinction of process here.  Many people wait for the perfect opportunity to act on a certain decision.  I want you to understand that being at the right place at the right time is in NO WAY in the same neighborhood as being in the perfect place in the perfect situation.

If you were to ask Bill Gates if his right place at the right time was the perfect place in the perfect situation my guess would be he would say no.  If you waste all of your time looking to the future for the perfect time and situation you'll find yourself with a life time of empty yesterdays.  To me the perfect situation at the perfect time means great reward for no risk.  If it were that easy everyone would do it.

Waiting to take a chance on something because the economic times isn't ideal.  Not pursuing one's dreams because the stars are not aligned properly is never a reason to not take action now.  Remember, being early allows you to be at the right place at the right time, and can dramatically change your life for the better.

The First Habit 2 Success

Consistency

"To be consistent, or not to be consistent, THAT is the question".

The answer is always, always, always be consistent.  One of the traits that I love about a good blogger is I can always expect to hear from them on a Daily, Weekly, or Monthly basis.  Although I normally like to get fresh content from a blogger not later than weekly, if I'm really interested in a particular blog, AND the information the writer is presenting is interesting enough I will hang around for 30 days to hear what the writer has to say.

Now, another lesson for another day is "What is a blog and how should I use it"?  Right now I'm going to assume you know what a blog is and how to use one.  First and and foremost it is important to establish a timeframe where your readers can expect the new information from you.  One successful internet personality who I anxiously await to hear from is a Vlogger Named Ray William Johnson.

Ray William Johnson is one of the most viewed channels on the YouTube search engine.  Is he a thought leader?  Is he the foremost expert in his field?  Does he even have a degree in what has made him successful?  The answer is a big fat NO.  He isn't anything special.  He's just a regular dude who stands in front of a corner filled with comic book pages, and he talks about the top 3 most popular internet videos fro the week. But he does it with humor.

For those of you who love mathematical formulas that has been tried and tested throughout the ages here it is:

Funny = Money

So Ray William Johnson has the gift of making people laugh in sort of a respectful edgy way.  His humor can be off color, but overall he keeps the vulgar to a minimum.  Now, your asking "Chris why all of this preparation, you haven't talked about why he's consistent yet".  You are right.  So here is it.

Ray's show follows a pattern.  He does three things in nearly every video.
          1. Starts off with a funny video and makes some jokes about it
          2. Makes jokes about the second video he reviews and then moves onto the third.
          3. After making jokes on the third he usually ties the jokes of the third to one of the previous jokes he made from one of the first two.
          4. Always ends his show with the same phrase

I love watching his v log because i know the pattern he used and I can expect to see the content published every monday and thursday.   To finish that point, Ray has well over a million subscribers!

     So remember BE CONSISTENT!

What are the habits 2 success?

In this age of fast changing internet trends and algorithms, it's easy to get caught up by all of the street corner, soapbox gurus of the internet.  You know who they are.  They are the guys professing to know all of the secrets that Google, Yahoo, and Amazon don't want you to know.  Learn the secret algorithm here, and don't buy that until you know this, style snake oil salesmen.

However, true success on the internet relys on some simple habits that will make all the difference from being ranked number 1 or number 100.  As the importance of being ranked is diminishing with the creation of personal and global search, the underlying principles still ring true.

Right about now you're asking yourself,  Chris, what does this have to do with habits?  Shouldn't you talk more about the concepts and principles?

My answer to you is, absolutely not.  Too many times (in my opinion) people learn the principles of successful internet traffic and either NEVER apply that knowledge, or they simply DO IT INCORRECTLY.

So what's the difference?

I use myself as an example.  I have started a number of blogs throughout the years and many of the concepts that I came up with were great.  I have one that I wanted to use to inspire struggling fathers to remember that family is the reason they work so hard and to not neglect them.  I wanted to offer tips and techniques to remember birthdays, anniversaries, disciplinary tips, etc...  I learn all of the principles, and concepts of how to be successful at it but I lacked the discipline to carry through fully with anything.

I started blogging every other day, then every other month, then only twice a year.  I didn't develop the habits of a successful blogger to be able to implement the principles and concepts.  No matter what tips and tricks can be attained through deceptive internet guru techniques, the fact remains true, when you do the right things long enough, you will be successful.

Through this blog I will be sharing with you some of the habits of some of the most successful internet entities.  My opinions in this blog will be just that.  MY opinions.  I always welcome healthy debate as a means of education and learning.  I am not however here to argue with those that have exact opposing views.  So if you feel your opinion is the exact polar opposite of mine, and you wish to be mean and nasty about it, feel free to about face and not look back.

With that being said I look forward to exploring the world of proper internet habits and behaviors that when applied long enough will help you transfer your projects from good to great!
